About

MUSIC PRODUCTION | ENTERTAINMENT

Frederick, MAryland

73 Collective is an independent music label and creative studio built around one core belief: good ideas deserve to exist, regardless of how they're made.

We create and release original, story-driven music across multiple artist personas--each with its own sound, identity, and purpose. Some projects are raw and intimate. Others are cinematic, heavy, or experimental. What unites them is the intention, craftsmanship, and respect for the listener.

A Transparent Approach to Creation

At 73 Collective, AI is part of the production process--not a replacement for creativity.

We openly use AI-assisted tools alongside traditional songwriting, arrangement, editing, and production workflows. These tools help us explore ideas faster, iterate more freely, and bring concepts to life that might otherwise remain unfinished. Every release still involves human direction, judgement, and curation--AI accelerates the process, but it doesn't decide what matters.

Lyrics, themes, structure, and final creative decisions are guided by people. AI is treated the same way earlier generations treated drum machines, synthesizers, samplers, or digial audio workstations; as a tool that expands what's possible.

Why We're Open About It

We believe transparency builds trust. Rather than hide modern tools or pretend creativity exists in a vacuum, we choose to be honest about how music is made today.

If the song resonates, the method did its job.

What We Do

- Release original music across a curated roster of artist projects.

- Develop cohesive visual identifies and storytelling around each release.

- Build a growing catalog suitable for streaming, direct sales, and sync licensing.

- Collaborate with artists, musicians, and creators who value clarity, meaning, and evolution.

The Bigger Picture

73 Collective isn't chasing trends or algorithms. It exists to create music with weight, atmosphere, and intent--music that connects wwith people who listen beyond the surface.

If you're here for the music, you'll stay for the honesty, experimentation, and songs that leave you wanting more.

There Are Only So Many Ways to Make Art

Written by Garth Phoebus

On learning, tools, and why similarity has never been theft

Authorship Still Matters

Written by Garth Phoebus   There’s a growing belief that AI-generated or AI-assisted music is something that must be banned, exiled, or morally rejected outright. Platforms are reacting. Artists are angry. Lines are being drawn. I want to slow that conversation…

Vision is the Destination

Written by Garth Phoebus   We often mistake training for the destination. It isn’t. Vision is. Training matters—but it’s transportation, not the end state. Think of it like an Uber. You don’t get in just to ride. You get in because…

Authenticity Isn’t Threatened by AI—It’s Threatened by a Narrow Definition of Creativity

Written by Garth Phoebus   The recent attention surrounding an AI-generated song topping a country music chart has reignited a familiar concern in Nashville: that authenticity and originality—long regarded as sacred pillars of the genre—are under threat. The implication is clear.… Read more
